You must give your body time to fight the injury that it thinks you had and take time to recover. Depending on the results that you want to see, you may only require one appointment. After your first session, you have the chance to go home and get an idea of how well it worked. This lets you decide whether to come back for another treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The microneedling procedure is one that we do in the office. After you check-in and come to one of our treatment rooms, we apply a topical anesthetic and give it time to work. It allows the needle to penetrate your skin and reduces the pain that you would otherwise feel. With anesthesia, the needle feels more like a small pinch than anything else. We will then use the needle to puncture your skin in different directions as we focus on your problem areas. Though you may notice some bleeding before and after the procedure, it is very mild and stops within a few minutes.

YOUR DOWNTIME

Unlike a skin lift and other surgical options, this treatment is less invasive, which means that you won’t experience an extended downtime. At the end of your session, we will control any bleeding that you experience and make sure that you are comfortable before sending you home. The anesthesia will wear off in the coming hours, but you may find it difficult to talk or eat until then. We recommend placing an ice pack on your treated skin to control bleeding and reduce inflammation. Ice packs can also reduce any discomfort or pain that you feel after the treatment. Though you may not want to head right back to work, you’re fine to work the following day.

In most instances, patients typically spend between 45 to 60 minutes within our facility.

SIDE EFFECTS

Prior to scheduling a microneedling appointment at GlamMD Rejuvenations, it's crucial to take into account the potential side effects. While bleeding during the procedure is a common occurrence, it typically subsides before your departure from our facility. It's also important to note that post-procedure skin peeling can be expected, as new skin regenerates and your body naturally sheds the old, dead skin. In some cases, a mild level of inflammation may also be experienced.


For those who are pregnant or have open wounds, we strongly recommend considering alternative options beyond the use of a skin pen for the procedure.
